Valley Life Charter School - Board of Education

The Valley Life Charter School of Education meets on the Second* Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at 3737 W Walnut, Visalia, CA. VLCS Board Meetings are open to the public.

*When the 2nd Monday is a Holiday, the meeting will be held on the FIRST Monday of the Month.

Board Members


Terri Martindale, Ed. D. - (President) Terri Martindale serves at the Visalia Unified School District Office, Visalia, CA. Terri graduated from Fresno State with a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies from Fresno Pacific University with a Master's in Reading/Language Arts.  She has three credentials which are a clear Teaching Credential, a Reading Specialist Credential, and a Clear Administrative Credential.  She completed her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management.  She is a member of the ACSA-Association of California School Administrators and an adjunct professor for the Fresno Pacific University program. David Humerickhouse - is a local dentist in Tulare, CA.  Dr. Humerickhouse graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.  He later graduated from the USC School of Dentistry, with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Humerickhouse has served in all of the leadership positions of the Tulare-Kings Dental Society (TKDS) over a period of six years, including a term as president, overseeing the governance, finance, and human resources of the association.  He has further experience in governance and leadership as the past chair of the local ethics committee. He then served two three-year terms as a trustee for the California Dental Association (CDA) where he was responsible for overseeing the finances of the Association's non-profit corporate arm and Holding Company, as well as governance and oversight of the various Councils and committees.  Afterward, further experience in leadership, governance, and human resources was gained as a six-year member and chair of the CDA Council on Peer Review. Twila Weiszbrod – Parent Board Member, is a retired healthcare administrator and college professor with extensive experience in leadership, education, and community service. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s College of Maine, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University, Fresno, and a Doctoral Degree in Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, from Northcentral University. Her doctoral dissertation examined the relationship between emotional intelligence and organizational leadership.

During her healthcare career, Twila served as a Manager and Division Manager with Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency, overseeing health and mental health programs. She later served as Program Director for health administration programs at St. Joseph’s College, where she also taught leadership courses to students and healthcare executives.

Following her retirement, Twila spent a year as a substitute teacher for Valley Life Charter School (VLCS) and currently provides individual reading tutoring at the Academy for Educational Excellence. She remains passionate about supporting students and helping them reach their full potential.

Twila and her husband live with their daughter and four grandchildren, who attend VLCS. She is actively involved in their education and offered to serve as a parent board member on the VLCS Board because of her firsthand appreciation for the quality of education and care the school provides. She is committed to using her leadership and educational experience to help ensure VLCS continues to provide an excellent education for its students. She is excited to serve in support of the mission and vision of VLCS.

Ryann Lashley has served in both public and private education and brings over a decade of experience in the field. Following graduation, she taught first grade at a private school. Most of her career was in Houston County Public Schools in Georgia, teaching Special Education at both the elementary and middle school levels with a focus on autism and interrelated programs.

Ryann earned her Bachelor’s degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and a Master’s in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College and State University in Forsyth, Georgia.

Since moving to California in 2022, Ryann has devoted her time to homeschooling her four boys: Rowen, Hayes, Campbell, and Davis, through Valley Life Charter School’s Independent Learning Program and other public charter homeschool programs. She is active in local homeschool co-ops and parent groups and is passionate about helping parents feel confident and included in their children’s educational journey.

Ryann and her husband, Chad Lashley, who serves as Executive Pastor at Visalia First, love being part of the Visalia community. Ryann is honored to serve on the VLCS Board and is dedicated to supporting strong, family-centered education that empowers both students and parents. Contact: Ryann Lashley
