VLCS Athletic Program
Valley Life Charter School is a part of a 6th-8th grade sports league. Our Athletic Director, Kurits Chism, is dedicated to fostering a fun and competitive spirit on campus.
Student-athletes at VLCS understand that they are first and foremost students, with a focus on academic success. However, representing VLCS in athletic competitions is also an important aspect of their education.
The school offers a variety of sports throughout the year. In the fall, we feature Co-Ed Flag Football and Volleyball. During the winter season, we have Boys' and Girls' Soccer, and in the spring, we offer Boys' and Girls' Basketball as well as Track for grades 4th-6th.
We encourage all students to participate in sports, as it promotes teamwork, leadership, and physical fitness. If you have any questions about our athletic program, please contact our Athletic Director, Kurtis Chism at kchism@vlcs.org

Student-Athlete Academic Policy
Students at VLCS can participate in several sports throughout the school year. To emphasize the importance of academics, students who make a sports team must submit a grade check form before participating. (Students on an IEP may be evaluated differently). This form will require students in 6th-8th grade to have a combined grade point average (G.P.A.) of 1.7 (C- average) in the following classes: Math, English, History, and Science. 6th-grade students with standards-based grades must have a 2 (two) or above in those same courses to be eligible. If a student does not meet the grade requirement by the first practice, they will be placed on athletic probation and given two weeks to improve their grades while being allowed to participate on the team. After the two-week probationary period, the student must submit a subsequent grade check form. If the student still does not meet the minimum G.P.A. Requirement, they will be ineligible to play on the team for the remainder of the season. Students with excessive absences (greater than 10%) (Students should submit a doctor’s note for absences), or tardiness (more than 6 in the current trimester) will automatically be ineligible for sports participation.
